Cassava Market Bulletin (Reference) – April 06, 2026
I. Cassava Starch
1. According to information from factories and traders, market developments are as follows:
Northern region: Factories are collecting the remaining raw materials at the end of the crop season for farmers and are expected to suspend operations within this week. Demand from Chinese buyers is showing a downward trend due to the onset of hot weather.
Central and Central Highlands regions: Raw material supply in the Central Highlands is estimated to have reached about 85–90% of the 2025–2026 harvest. Prices and buying inquiries have slowed down; accordingly, local cassava starch factories are not in a hurry to sell, as inventories remain limited.
Southern region and Tay Ninh: Prices of imported Cambodian cassava into Vietnam are too high; therefore, factories are trying to purchase domestic fresh cassava roots to maintain limited operations.
2. The Thai Tapioca Starch Association announced an increase of USD 10/ton compared to last week, reaching USD 525/ton FOB Bangkok (announced on March 31, 2026). Vietnamese factories raised their offers by USD 5/ton, currently ranging from USD 520 – 540/ton FOB Ho Chi Minh Port.
Meanwhile, according to reference sources, the purchase price of fresh cassava roots (25% starch content) delivered to Thai factories increased by VND 30/kg compared to last week, ranging from VND 1,950 – 2,440/kg depending on the region.
II. Cassava Chips
According to cassava chip traders and market information, export offer prices of Vietnamese cassava chips increased by USD 5/ton, driven by rising fuel costs as well as low inventory levels.
